Implementing TISC will improve El Salvador's system for protecting intellectual property

In El Salvador, the number of applications at the Intellectual Property Registry has been rising in the first half of the year, creating a need for a system that works faster and more efficiently.

The World Intellectual Property Organization’s TISC – the Technology and Innovation Support Center, has been implemented into the National Registration Center’s Intellectual Property division’s efforts to streamline and facilitate processes electronically.

El Salvador’s intellectual property system is being improved

In reality, TISC was established at the end of 2021 with the objective of promoting innovation and creativity in order to improve the nation’s intellectual property system and, as a result, its economic growth. They achieve this by giving access to top-notch local technology and related information services to innovators in developing nations, supporting them in creating, securing, and managing their intellectual property (IP) rights while also allowing them to fully realize their potential as innovators. A variety of services are provided by TISC, including research on competition and technology, important information on IP legislation, management, and strategy, training on database searches, online access to patent resources, technical and scientific materials, as well as publications linked to IP.

As a result of TISC’s recent implementation in El Salvador, all types of company owners and entrepreneurs will have better access to and understanding of the procedures in registering their trademarks, patents, trade names, advertising signs, logos, and other IP assets.

With the help of these tools, a business owner will be able to register his trademark more quickly and effectively, which will minimize any potential conflicts with comparable trademarks as well as the risk of having his trademark unprotected and having to deal with third parties.

From one perspective, this new IP registration system addition can remove the bureaucracy that frequently discourages individuals from registering their trademarks and even some business owners who choose not to open or launch their business due to the obstacle that these procedures pose. Since entrepreneurs and investors have access to tools that improve their performance and creative potential, it is a transition that can accelerate their growth and economic transformation. All of this promotes regional innovation by way of product and service research.

To sum up, TISC  enables the owners of trademarks, goods, and services to act as the administrators of their rights, and to manage and defend them by having all the information they require at their disposal. By informing and counseling the user, TISC expects to make IP registration more widely adopted. This encourages operational freedom, technology surveillance, information access, and increased user engagement in the operational procedures of their own business. Ultimately, all of these advantages will improve intellectual property awareness and strategic application, promoting innovation and economic progress in the nation.
